Mosaic at St Andrews Church Enfield

Mosaic is a family group within St. Andrew’s Church that offers a wide range of activities and events to appeal to everyone. Our daytime activities are aimed mainly at parents and carers with pre-school children, but there is plenty more to include those with older children, like the Christmas panto trip. You will receive a bi-monthly newsletter giving you full details of what is happening. Our annual subscription is only £5 per family. Subscription fees cover our fundraising for the year’s nominated charity, all our other charity work and Mosaic’s running costs.

Playgroups (during term time)
Take place on Monday and Friday mornings from 9.45 to 11.00am in the Parish Centre. There are plenty of toys to play with and our popular singing sessions at the end! Tea, coffee, squash, fruit and biscuits are available and the cost for each session is £2 per family. Bring along your Mosaic membership card for a reduced entrance of £1.50! Please note that Monday morning playgroup does not meet on the first Monday of each month.

Involvement in Church Life
As the family group at St. Andrew’s we have an important role to play in the life of the Church. Members of Mosaic can get involved as much or as little as they like. We make refreshments after Church several times a year, and have special services for children at Easter and Christmas. Mosaic also runs stalls at the Church Summer Fete and St. Andrew’s School Summer Fete. We are always looking for volunteers to help with these events!

Outings and Events
Watch the newsletters for details of our outings and events. Previous activities have included trips to the pantomime and cinema, summer picnics in park, family pub lunches, party nights, quiz nights and sponsored events. Our ever popular Fashion Show raised over £800. Our book club is very popular and always welcomes new readers!

Fund raising
Each year we support a nominated charity, as well as supporting St. Andrew’s Church, and donating to Tearfund and Compassion.

In 2009 we raised £1,000 for the Early Intervention Centre at Cheviots Children’s Centre. In
2010 we raised £2,200 to pay for new murals to brighten up children’s outpatients at Chase Farm Hospital. We also donated £500 to Dreams Come True, which grants the wishes of terminally and seriously ill children. In 2011 we raised £2000 for MACS (The Micro and Anophthalmic Children’s Society). They support families of children born without eyes and partially developed eyes: providing information, putting families in touch with each other, running activity weekends and in some cases providing financial assistance to help families, who need to purchase equipment or services.

In 2012/13 we will be raising money for SANDS – the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, which supports anyone affected by the death of a baby, as well as promoting research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives. We are also donating £200 to the Mission Aviation Fund.

The money raised also goes towards facilities for the toddler groups, so we can keep offering fun and safe sessions. We also send parcels four times a year to Satawas, an 8 year old boy in Kek Noi, Thailand. We enjoy receiving regular updates on how he is doing (please see the Mosaic notice board in the Parish Centre for copies of his letter).

Come and Join Us.....
If you would like to come along or join Mosaic, we would be happy to see you at any of our
events. Membership costs only £5 for the year. We will email you a newsletter every other month with information of all the upcoming events, and as a member you will have priority ticket access to any of our events. Although Mosaic has strong links with St. Andrew’s Church, we welcome members from all areas of the community and all denominations.

To join Mosaic, please fill in the form below and bring it along to Monday or Friday’s Playgroup, or contact Hazel Wilson at hazelwil@googlemail.com. Cheques for the £5 membership should be made payable to ‘Mosaic’. We are also always looking for new members to join the committee, to help with fundraising or organising. For further information about Mosaic and about our playgroups, please email Karen Humphreys at karenhumphreysuk@hotmail.com.

We Hope to See You Soon!
